ECO-HOMES TO HIT MERSEYSIDE

With Home Information Packs (HIPs) soon to be launched in the UK, environmentally-friendly housing has just moved up a notch on most homebuyers’ list of requirements.

Aldbury Homes is one of the first developers in the Merseyside region to offer them a solution with its new scheme Green Brow, an entirely eco-friendly development of houses and apartments.

Situated in Everton Brow just north of Liverpool city centre, Green Brow has been designed to minimise the environmental impact of the development, and to help residents to be energy efficient and ecologically-friendly in the long term.

All of the 150 homes at Green Brow have been designed to achieve the Eco-Homes rating of ‘excellent’, the highest possible standard, which will be verified by the Eco-Homes assessment scheme, once the development is complete.

To achieve the rating, the one, two, and three bedroom apartments and houses will feature high levels of thermal insulation, low emission and high efficiency heating and lighting systems. The development will also benefit from external rainwater storage, and natural drying facilities to minimise the residents’ use of tumble driers.

At the heart of the development will be a central courtyard, which will be surrounded by landscaped gardens and grounds that have been designed by ecologists to encourage indigenous species of flora and fauna to thrive.

The scheme has excellent public transport links and bicycle storage facilities to enable residents to be less dependant on the car. Car parking will be situated underground to improve the overall aesthetic of the development.

Like conventional property developments, the properties will have stylish interiors, with modern fitted kitchen units, chic bathroom suites and spacious open-plan living areas.

The first phase consists of a mixture of two and three bedroom houses and one, two and three bedroom apartments. Priced from £95,000, the properties are an ideal opportunity for first time buyers, young professionals, and small families to purchase a home in an up and coming area, close to the city centre.
